Tomas Berg has been reappointed as chief executive of the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund (SPK) for a further six-year term.
Berg has served as SPK chief executive since 2020, and during his first term, he led the company through the introduction of a new public occupational pension, the biggest change in SPK's more than 100-year history.
His first term at SPK also saw organisational changes and digital projects implemented in the company. The fund also stated that he has good insights into areas central to SPK's future.
Berg joined SPK from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, where he held the positions of operations manager and head of the pensions department. In these roles, he oversaw pension reform efforts for several years.
Commenting on the appointment, Minister of Labour and Inclusion, Kjersti Stenseng, said: “I am delighted that Tomas Berg has chosen to continue as chief executive of the SPK. This ensures continuity in SPK’s work to introduce the new public sector pension scheme. The aim is to enable people to remain in work for longer.”
Adding to this, Berg said: “I look forward to continuing the work of developing SPK further. We have talented staff and a strong professional environment.
"Together, we will continue to deliver services that give people a clear overview and peace of mind regarding their own pension choices.”
